It all started with popping and grinding...
'03 Z - drivers window. It all started with popping and grinding and now the window will not roll down more than 2 inches. I know I've read about this problem here before, but I can't find any of the threads (something about the cables and regulator?). Luckily I have an extended warranty, but I'd like to know a little in advance what the deal is.

If it works, but just makes noise, you may have frayed drive cables.
Whatever the problem, most likely, you will need to have the window regulator assembly replaced to permanently solve the problem.
Most people have the motor freeze up and quit working long before the cables wear out.
I had one window that made a gravel noise, and finally quit working completely. When I replaced the regulator, the cables looked good, so I still do not know exactly what was making the noise. The new regulator fixed the problem though.
