IP gauges; Tach & Speed floating
I have tach that starts floating higher and higher after about one to two hours of steady running. Goes full clockwise. Will come down slowly days later after stop and go driving. After three or four hours running, the speedometer locks on the prevailing value. It also will slowly recover after few days of stop and go driving.
What is the method of using a digital signal to operate an analog meter movement?

Is this a dumb question?
This seems difficult to troubleshoot as normally it works fine. Only happens on trips. I monitor the engine speed signal from the PCM and it looks like a typical pulse stream. I know nothing about the tach in the IPC and its logic conversion.
