Default MS4 Cam

Thinking about getting the MS4 CAM.

I have a 2003 Stock Coupe A4 with stock LS1 heads. LG Long tubes, X-Pipe, Stingers.

Does this CAM require fly cutting?

Thanks

nope. i love mine, but i think i would love it even more with a 3.90/4.10 rear end - bit of cam surge around 1.2-1.4k.

make sure u get dual springs and new pushrods with the cam.

What do you have now for gears? 2.73?

Who did the tune after the cam swap?

Still trying to understand the LSA difference from cam to cam. Some say a 112 will require fly-cutting on a G5X3 and a 114 won't. So I thought anything under 114 would require cutting. The MS4 is 111 right?

Guess I need to do some more research.

230/230 .609/.604 111lsa ?

I would say that fly cutting the pistons (with the stock heads) for this cam isn't necessary...however it is a pretty big cam so you are going to want to check to be sure. One thing you are going to want to do is replace the stall converter. I recently swapped my cam for a 228/230 .571/.573 112. I didn't have to fly cut the pistons and I'm running Dart Pro1 heads, which have much less valve drop than stock heads. I did replace the converter but I also ran it with the stock converter for about a week. It is possible to get it to idle with my cam but the performance (low end) was pretty poor. Went with the Yank SS3600.

Shouldn't need to flycut but would recommend a higher than stock stall.

BTW - I'm running 3.42 gears as well. That cam would suck with 2.73s and stock converter.

I've got 2.73s right now and I know they suck but I can't afford to do it all at once. Just put in an RPM A4.

Trying to decide between these CAMs.
