Default Oil Pressure Sensor?

I have my oil pressure gauge/DIC reading 130 and i heard that the sensor can sometimes go weird.. Would this just be the oil pressure sensor gone bad or are there any other parts that could cause this high reading..

If so? Parts/Price and is it hard to fix?

Here is another option for replacement.. I've done it and it's really not that hard... AND you can NOT see any of the new hole...

Plenty of reading on this subject if you do a search as this comes up numerous times a week.

Sensor is $47.31 from GMpartshouse. Whether it's hard to fix depends on your abilities. If you feel comfortable removing the intake manifold, and have the necessary tools required, then you are set. Personally, I think it's easy. The sensor is the most common cause of a high oil pressure indication; however, a ground loss to the sensor will also cause the same issue.

I agree with lucky. I think it is very easy to change just search the forums. Remember to diconnect the battery before starting the job. It took me about 1h30min for the whole project. For me the hardest thing was to get the vacumm hose back in.

Brass sensor from Advance Auto Parts: BWD S4202

How hard to relocate? Read the sticky at the top of this page, then decide for yourself.

Those are my exact thoughts too. Hopefully, the brass replacement sensor will prove to be more durable.

I just did the "drill hole" method on my 00 last week. Its gravy easy, and I dropped a Craftsman deep socket (and a piece of duct tape on one side) down there with no problems at all. Used a length of heater hose to start the new threads, worked great.

If you are interested, I drew a CAD "guide" of where to drill in order to get to the sensor. I have not had a chance to write it up.

Minus side of drilling:
You drilled a hole in your Corvette

Plus side of drilling:
Easy to change the sensor in the future
Cannot see the hole
Lowered my repair costs (no need for intake gaskets, I know you can reuse them but after 45K miles I am not going to reuse any gaskets...that just not good sense IMO).

BTW, was consistent 122PSI before the sensor change, looking good at 42 cruising now.

Bought the part :Brass sensor from Advance Auto Parts: BWD S4202

Doesn't appear brass.. looks aluminum.. i guess not all of them are brass.. Guess i will have to take it back and try another store for a brass one.

I even check O'Reilly Auto Parts, someone mentioned they have the brass.

Part Specs at O'Reilly

Doesn't appear brass there either.

Standard Makes one and they are made in the US of A.
Installed mine 1600 miles ago and so far so good. Can't recall the PN other than 303. Box is in the car and wife has the car.

It's probably from their old stock. The new ones definately have a brass body. Bring it back!

If I remember correctly, a PS308 sensor made by Standard Motor Products
is also brass.

Know of any retailers that sell this PS-308 part? It doesn't look like you can purchase it through their website.
