I did a search and nothing was spot-on so I'll try this...
I just picked up a '99 C5 with Z06 wheels which, strangely, were mounted with 245X45X17 front and 275X40X18 rear summer tires. Interestingly, the Tire Rack charts say the rears are wide enough for the 10.5" rims -- but the fronts should be at least 255's with the 9.5" wide front rims.
Anyway, this car is a DD so I should have all-season tires (and had good luck with Kumho ASX's on my C4). There are no all-season tires available in the proper 265 front and 295 rear sizes, so I was thinking of mounting 255X45X17 fronts and 275X40X18 rears. Has anyone tried this combo?
I can't imagine the slight (0.2") added radius on the fronts would impact clearance or the traction control computer, but I would feel better if someone else out there tried this with no problems. I really don't want to go to the expense of an all new wheel-tire combo to make this work if I do not have to.
Michelin makes a 285/35/18 and 255/40/17 all season tire.
Thanks!
Quite pricy, and I really did like the Kumhos but I'll have to give this some thought. Still wondering if anyone has run 255/45/17's on the front and were there any problems...
