Default MSD Blaster coils

Some older posts on these coils are the responses are pretty poor/ or in favour of stock. Are these still made in Mexico or China and has quality improved that anyone knows of?

They STINK, went through several on my last Vette, finally gave up and they sent me their OHV I think it was called-it lasted till I sold the car. What's wrong with your stock coils?

Nothing wrong with them but there is a new set for sale for a great price and was considering buying them if quality had improved. I am planning some engine mods and figured it wouldn't hurt to install them if they were half decent. From what I have read from some of the older posts however it looks like I will stick with the stock coils.

I had two MSD coil packs go bad, switched back to to the stock coil packs and the car runs better than ever.I guess I caught up in the MSD hype and wasted my money like so many others. In fact I still have one MSD coil pack that is new...never removed it from the sealed container...anyone what to buy it cheap...$50.00 plus shipping.

The MSD product does look cool (better bling)than the plain Jane stock coil packs, but thats about it!

But why change them out in the first place? The stock coils are proven in all applications from stock to 900 RWHP +.

You can paint the oem red, but that would probably bring some negative comments as well...

That looks very cool painted but I am just not that detailed. I was thinking that better spark with MSD may give me better burn and better emissions chances once my cam goes in as I will be looking for every trick in the book to help make me pass smog check. Looks like I will just be playing with the tune before and afterwards. Thanks for the feedback guys.

Coils won't do much for smog checks, even if they do tailpipe tests-you'll just be burnin' money.

I take it that you ditched your FRC's and run them like that??It looks like you painted your valve covers as well,,or did you buff them?

It's winter here...I was bored.

I have my red plastic fuel rail covers in the cabinet in case I change my mind on this.

I painted the brackets in KRYLON dull aluminum silver. The valve covers were only cleaned of dust. The brackets almost disappear against the valve covers. I replaced the oem steel bolts with stainless hex head bolts. I left in place those oem fasteners that secure the fuel rail covers.

Forget the coils. I am running 580 RWHP and the stock coils perform just fine. A real waste of money IMHO.
