Hey guys, I tried to search but didn't get the answer I was wanting.
2002 z06 and my HUD stopped working for some odd reason.
I hardly drive the car and when I pulled it out to drive it the other day, I noticed that the HUD was not working. I searched and people said that they have an issue with the display sagging but I moved all the way up to the steering wheel and I can't see anything.
Does this have a fuse or any other little things that I can check over?
Also, My passenger window decided to stop working..... anything I can check to help fix it ?
Usually with the hud, there are only a couple of possibilities. First is the intensity control is turned down or the HUD has been driven down or up out of your view. All of the power and commands come from the IP Cluster itself via a small ribbon cable at the top rear of the cluster itself. Do the obvious, check for fuses first, then be prepared to get to the IP Cluster to check that connector. Any other malfunctions in that area?
As for the window, since they may not get used much, the commutator windings get corroaded and cause them to fail. Usually, while touching the down button, you can rap on the window edge downward and it will take off and run. You can also take the inside door panel off and use a rubber mallet on the motor.
Actually, its fairly easy to get to things. I had to replace the HUD on my '99 due to a faling light sensor. First time effort to get the dash pad off and all the asspociated other panels, 2.5 hours start to finish. Now whether its possible to get to it without taking the dash pad off is an interesting idea, but I don't know if it can be gotten out of there. You can remove the IP Cluster and get to the HUD, but coming out is the unknown that way.
