This prototype is made out of a piece of plastic, formed by a heater. I´ve fixed it under the front facia, first it goes horizontal, then it goes 30 degrees upwards (not to collide with the filter) and at the top it is folded 180 degrees backwards. If water reaches up to this piont it cannot go further. The pictures may be better than my explination.

Re: Selfmade watershield for Donaldson (C5 Frederik)
Thats  ,it'll definatly keep the filter from getting wet, even if you opened the hood with water on it. I went the easy way and installed a hood seal.
Re: Selfmade watershield for Donaldson (Black01Coupe)
With the oil on these filters, water just rolls off like a ducks back. I don't think you need to worry about some water dripping on the filter when you lift a wet hood up. I've done it and watched the water roll right off the filter. Just mho of course. :chevy

I agree. Also, you're restricting the filter some with that design..on the sides anyway. But, just open up the rad. shroud and you'll be in business. :D
Re: Selfmade watershield for Donaldson (C5 Frederik)
Hey Frederick, hab auch mal wieder etwas Zeit mich hier rumzutreiben. . .
I dont think this will restict any airflow, as all the Air is comming from below the shroud and not from the top (like it was said, there is the hood anyway !)
Now you just need the Cold Air Screens :D
Installed mine a week ago . . A pain in the butt i can tell you. But Liliana (yes, she helped a lot) and i had a lot of fun working at the car.
Still not shure if i should get your mags . . . Maybe i will get the Y2K this July when i will be in the states again.
Talk to you as soon as i have the date of our "little party" here in MUC.
Jochen
How have you been? Sorry we missed your party on the 1st but we had other commitments.
When you added your Baer rotors did you change to the hawk performance pads at the same time? I have both ready to install, just waiting for my stainless lines to arrive.
As both you and C5 Fredrick know, I also added a shroud to keep the water off my K&N. The water might not hurt the filter but I just didn't like it.
Re: Selfmade watershield for Donaldson (Chuck Broten)
Ewald, dont worry about the rest of the fun :D
BTW great pics, nice work. Did you get some guys from your company (dont want to say the name of the company here :) ) working for you :D
Chuck, nice to hear from you. I really hope we will meet soon here in Munich. You and Ewald know that we will have a little celebration very soon . . . You will get an Email as soon as i know the date.
When i bought the BAERS i got a set of ceramix pads (from NAPA). When i installed the rotors i realized that the stock pads were as good as new, so i decided to stay with the stock pads and save the ceramix pads for later.
I am planning to do a few more mods to the brake system (SS brake lines, bias spring . . .) in a few months, so with this work i will exchange the brake fluid and install the ceramix pads.

Re: Selfmade watershield for Donaldson (C5 Frederik)
Very ... If you get a real good quality hood seal you can eliminate any water infiltration getting to the filter. Most body shops will have something for you to use :yesnod:

This is a fine Padron 1964 Anniversary if you’re wondering…
