If your car runs like crap afterwords make sure you didn't put the O2 sensors on the wrong side. That happened after my install and the car had really bad hesitation under acceleration. Turned out the drivers O2 sensor was on the passenger side and vise versa.

I've installed two LG systems, my Z on jackstands, and my son-in-law's '08 coupe on his two post. Man, is it easy on a lift!. Be careful of your sparkplugs, and the sensor on the front of the DS head. After doing mine three times, for different mods, I added ARP studs, which can save you stripping out the boltholes. Not needed though if you're just stopping at headers, yeah, right. Also, be very careful with your wire routing after install, and make VERY sure nothing is touching your headers. The O2, and starter wires can be a problem. If you're doing the whole midpipe section, aligning your catback tips can be a hassle, as the connector pipes are not straight, but again, on a lift, no biggie. I've had no problems with my LG clamps that were furnished, and mine are very early ('03) LGs.

There are lots of write ups on here if you search for them. Here is what made my install easy and both sides went in from the top:

Removed valve covers et al....
Removed spark plugs.
Removed alternator.
Removed oil filter.
Removed dip stick.
Removed air tubing.

They didn't drop in, but a little knudge got them in there. Disconnect the battery just so you don't short headers out on the starter which I did not remove.

Make sure you alot yourself plenty of time. It's not hard but you don't want to rush it. Then you won't find yourself having to go back and fix things you forgot to do. It will probably go faster and smoother if you're not rushing to finish. The only problem I had was that afterwards I was getting "low oil temp" message. I forgot to plug wire back onto sender.

IIRC, passenger side went in easier from the top, driver side from the bottom. Take your time and visualize the process as you go through the steps. Take the time to remove the items like Goody says, it will save time in the long run.

Good luck, and have fun.

By this he means don't cross the wires hooking up to the sensors. It can be easily done. The sensors themselves are the same. You have 2 fronts and 2 rears. For my LG install, LG themselves recommends moving the 2 from the rear to the front (using their supplied adapters) and then leaving the rear spots empty. From here you will have to have the car tuned and have the installer turn the rears off since there won't be sensors in those spots anymore. This is all pretty standard practice for a LG header install. If you start throwing 02 sensor codes after this, double check everything and if all else fails, buy 2 brand new front sensors and change them out. That fixed my 02 sensor code problem I had once I finished my install.

Installing the headers: follow what the guys are saying above, do a search for headers installs and read up plenty before you begin. There are plenty of informative write-ups with pictures! A lot better then the instructions that are sent to you. Most importantly: the passenger side will not just drop or even nudge in if your ac lines are like mine. You will have to very CAREFULLY play a push/pull thing with them while pushing the header in from the top. This is key! My AC lines really had to be pushed toward the fenders in order to give the header enough room to drop into place. Just be careful, you don't want to push so hard that you end up making a crack where the line joins the canister.

Good luck and any problems don't hesitate to ask!

Only thing I can add is if your C5 is an '00 or older you'll have to do change out the AIR crossover tube. Also, the AIR tubes will connect up to the headers, but there was a small mismatch in bolt centers, enough that you have to have the bolts exactly straight or they won't start.

We had a problem getting the RT Hi-flow cats mounted, but a little persuasion with a tube spreader solved that problem.

You definitely will need to have a tune done to get the most out of your investment. My total gains were 34 rwhp/33 rwtq with the headers and a tune.

HTH, and have a good one,
Mike

Yeah, what he said. I guess I should have been a little more clear with my statement.

Let us know how it goes.

Test fit everything. Both of my cats had to be expanded to fit properly.

TorcTite (stepped) clamps were the best I found, and I used them in-place of the supplied pieces. Unfortunately, one of the O2 sensors was too close on mine to allow it to fit properly. In the end, I used an old-school U clamp there to move the metal back into shape.

It wasn't too bad. Just take your time.

I saw VetteDrmr comments and test fitted the AIR tube to the headers in my Living Room and found that there was no way possible to start the bolts into the header with the openings on the the AIR tube. I was fortunate to find this out before I had the headers on and the AIR tube half installed. Took the AIR tube out to my drill press and elongated the holes. Test fitted again and had no problem starting the bolts.

Hope this saves someone time and reduces frustration.
