My buddy has a 2000 Coupe he is considering the Yank Stealth 2600. Because his car is still under warranty and this converter looks like the stock converter in case he has transmission problems and has to take it to the dealer for service. Anyone have experience with this converter, how is the performance.
I have no experience with this converter myself but I'll speculate based on what I know.
The delaer will never be able to tell it is an aftermarket converter. Yank actually splits open a stocker and makes modifications to it. For thi sstealth ability comes a cost of decreased performance. It will give some increased grunt up to about 3K RPM then it mimics the stocker all the way to redline. Given the cost of installation the small gain doesn't justify the expense IMO. Go for the gusto. I did and don't regret it. Besides if the tranny blows up GM has to prove the converter caused it. I have had mine in for about 25,000 miles and no ill effects whatsoever.
Not totally true....IF you have a good tech he can "feel" the converter just driving the car in. It is possible that a dealer who doesn't care about his customer......not that any dealer would treat a Corvette customer like that.....right......can then void your warranty. Be careful which dealer you use, better yet, ASK them first and if they agree have them do the install. Remember, if they install it and approve it, they can't claim either was the problem !!
