Long tube headers
Long tube headers, especially tuned headers (equal length among all the runners) let the engine breathe better by pulling exhaust gases out of the cylinders faster. This in turn allows for more fuel/air mixture to enter the chambers, resulting in more horsepower. Unfortunately, our computers can't deal with the increase in air and fuel delivery, and very often will trip warning codes. Also, becuase of the placement of the O2 sensors farther down the exhaust stream than stock, the sensors don't heat as efficiently. O2 sensor switching faults are common after header installs.
First, if you plan to go with long tubes, a tune is a must.
With your CAI and a set of long tubes folks can see upwards of 30-40hp increases. Not all headers are alike; some make more than others.
FWIW, those are my lessons from doing these mods to my cars. There are far more knowledgeable people on this board than me! :o
I'm curious and I am sure those questions may come up from the OP too!
