I installed my ripper last night. Love the shifter, but I had to cut the rubber boot that quieted the trans. I know some people suggested dynomat and a couple of other solutions to reduce the noise. Could someone please redirect me to an old tread or provide the solution..
Upside down rubber boot is the way to go. Also, put a piece of heater hose on the shaft, use a size that creates a tight fit. This helps with any wot vibration you may have. It that doesn't do it, put Corsa Indys on it. I haven't heard a peep from my Ripper since.

No need for the hose trick anymore. Installing Ambitin's, I noticed they had
increased the diameter of the lower shaft (new humpless model). Effectively
creating a relief cut for the shaft. It cannot vibrate against the housing anymore.
I still need to do the hose thing on mine though. Sometimes sounds like
pinging at WOT. Or lighten up on the grip
Kudos...Ken...Giving credit where credit is do :yesnod: :yesnod:
Heck if I recall correctly "SS" was the guy who started "Mod Days" in Houston.

In addition to the upside down boot, do the Dynamat trick (wrap as many strips around the shaft as you can). Also, it helps if the top of the shaft is isolated from the shift ****. Several layers of electrical tape will do.
