Home Depot only had mixtures of thinner, etc. that had Methanol, toluene, acetone, etc. all in it. i only found one pure form that was Xylene at $20/gal!!! that's insane. anyone in the Portland area can point me in a direction?
Re: toluene/xylene- having hard time finding it (rwj383)
You want a paint store like shermin williams or something like that. Xylene or Toluene a virgin solvents. you cannot have any contamination with adding it to fuel.
I found it at my local auto paint store, but was told I was paying too much..10.00 a gal

Not sure about Toluene but I do know you can get Xylene at Screen printing supply store. I use to work in a warehouse for NazDar KC, we made screen printing ink. I would have 55 gal drums of Xylene to add to the ink, also use to fill up 1 gal can for sale to screen printing stores.

I know what we want to use it for, but when I go into a paint store and ask for it what do they think I am using it for. A thiner or a solvent ? Something else?
I just don't want to look like an butt when or if they start asking questions.
