It's amazing how some people aren't understanding your question, but I do understand their points. I also fully understand what you are saying, unfortunatly I don't know the answer.

All things being equal, having a computer drive the car exactly the same each time. The only variable being engine output. How much more power is needed to get the car down the track 1 second faster? I'd love to know myself.

How much horsepower will it tak to lower your e.t. 1 sec. And the answer is
[100 hp] Using the generall rule of thumb that every 10 HP. knocks .1 off e.t.

EX. a 13.50 car adds 100hp nitrous, when set up right e.t. usually drops about 1 full sec. and mph usually goes up approx 10 mph. :seeya

OK. So in the examples, it looks like you need a little over 80 additional rwhp to get that first second, and a little over 115 additional rwhp to get the second second. Thanks.
That goes right along with the rule of thumb that I have always used: 1 sec faster requires 100 hp. I developed this based on experience with running different levels of N2O on the same car. However it is true that the ratio is not linear. As you go faster aerodynamic drag builds more quickly. I just dropped 0.3 seconds with a gain of 8-10 rwhp. The hundred hp rule would sugest that 10 hp would be good for only 0.1 sec. So it is correct that each 1/10 sec will require more power (and probably more money) than the last.

I do not think it is wise to measure mods in terms of drop in ET (even though this may be your motivation for performing them). The result will very greatly depending on if this was one of your first mods or your last. On the other hand, in the case of minor bolt-on mods, each will usuall result in about the same power increase reguardless of the sequence of the mods.
