yesterday I noticed my zo6 was squealing so I started to investigate under the hood. I am about posative the noise is coming from the drivers side of the motor. Anyone have any ideas as to what needs to be replaced? Idler pully???? It only makes the noise around 1,700 rpm and up.
It could be belt, pulleys, tensioners, or any combination.
You just need to eliminate one at a time until you find the source.
You can mist water on the belt to see if the noise goes away.
(Do not use belt dressing as it can deteriorate the belt and/or make the noise worse)
Also look at the alignment of the crank pulley to make sure it has not moved.
ya I was under the hood with a stethascope (spelling?) and I could not pinpoint it. Its def not the alt. It kinda seemed like it was coming from either the powersteering pump (has fluid in it) or the idler inbetween the pump and the crank.
