Default Codes and Cats
Will my 98 A4 throw codes if I take out the cats and reinstall the O2 sensors into the new straight pipe?

The rear ones will throw codes w/ no cat. One test the system does is catalyst effiency, no cats means a FAILED test.

You'll most likely get codes even if your rear O2s are tuned out. The cats are the highest restriction in the exhaust. Removing them greatly increases the exhaust flow and your air/fuel ratios can easily get out of the "normal" range if you don't get re-tuned after changing the exhaust.

You can simply turn off these codes with software (HP Tuners).
