Cam advice and dyno #s speculation..
Additionally, what's the most aggressive cam that I could run with stock heads? Now, don't get me wrong, I realize that EVERYONE will recommend that I upgrade the heads when doing a cam swap...but just humor me if you could. I know that there are some guys who have done a cam swap and retained their stock heads and got some good numbers out of it....then again, I think they were all Z06s to begin with..
Thanks,
Wes

:Edit: Yes, I realize that I would have to replace the lift springs and other minor parts...

What type of dyno will be used.. example: Mustang,Dynojet 248, something else.??
What calibrations will be used by the dyno tech? Ex: SAE corrected for Density Altitude?
uncorrected numbers? Will the SAE corrected values be manually input by the technician if uncorrected?? We will need the humidity, temperature and elevation of the location if numbers are uncorrected.. Do you have an automatic or manual .transmission?? Automatic transmissions will always have a lower rwhp reading due to increased powertrain loss (15-18%) vs 12% loss on a 6 speed manual.. Also. what type of rear end do you have?? 2.73,3.15,3.42??? Maybe an aftermarket 3.90?? rwhp will decrease on the graph on a shorter gear ratio... As you can see most people believe that a number is a number on any dyno.. Its not like getting on a scale to weigh yourself and getting a number that will always be the same on a perfectly calibrated scale.. 99% of people think that a dyno number is a dyno number without consideration of many many variables.. As a result we see bone stock ls1 rwhp numbers on this forum anywhere from 275rwhp-345rwhp depending on all of the above variables.. Thats a big gap!!! With all that said I think you will have anywhere between 310rwhp and 400 rwhp.. A dyno is just a tool to measure modification performance from baseline stock through all levels of mods.. Use the same tuner/technician and the same dyno... There are way to many variables involved to compare your numbers with someone elses... I hope this post helps you as well as others..
