Default Oil warning light sender location

I am going to install a warning light for low oil pressure. I had a filter seal blow out but caught it within 2 seconds (Someone was helping me and did not get the filter tight). I plan on using the port on the driver lower front of the block that is used for prelubing. Is this OK? I don't want to take off the intake. Ken

So you are going to install a low oil pressure warning light in case you forget to tighten the oil filter again ?

WHY, what's the problem with the oil pressure guage on the dash? 35 years of changing oil on my cars and have never had a rubber gasket fail.

That's a perfect location for a backup oil pressure sensor or gauge connection.

The only difference is that it will show the oil pressure BEFORE the oil filter. The rear location on the block senses oil pressure After the filter.

Read closely, the filter gasket did not fail, the installer failed to tighten the filter....

Correct. It was pretty loose. As the saying goes if you want it done right do it your self. I did not change filter mfg as I still am using NAPA Gold. You should have seen the mess. I goosed the throttle and oil shot up about eight feet. This is a 30# sensor and most likely if I lose oil pressure It won't be the filter and I will have other serious problems. After the spending big $ on the build I don't want to take a chance on seeing the gauges as I rarely look down at them. This one mounts on the gauge pillar is a a 1" bright red light. Thanks for your input. Also it is fun to goon someone now and then and I guess I made that possible. Ken

I Think if your oil pressure goes to 0, the engine will cut off to save itself I seem to recall reading somewhere. I would also think the CEL light would come on the dash too. Probably why when the sensor fails, it fails pegged high.
