Default fan assembly replacement

Anyone replace their C-5 radiator fan assembly? Looking for instructions.

Cooling Fan Motor Replacement - Electric


Removal Procedure

1. Raise the vehicle and support. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
2. Remove the front stabilizer shaft bolts.
3. Position the front stabilizer shaft downward.
4. Disconnect the fan motor connectors.
5. Remove the wiring harness from the fan shroud.
6. Remove the lower radiator hose.
7. Remove the fan shroud from the radiator. Refer to Fan Shroud Replacement .
8. Remove the fan from the motor.
9. Remove the fan motor from the shroud.

Installation Procedure


Notice
Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.


1. Install the fan motor to the shroud. Tighten the screws to 6 N·m (53 lb in).
2. Install the fan onto the fan motor.
3. Install the fan retaining nut. Tighten the nut to 5.5 N·m (49 lb in).
4. Install the fan shroud to the radiator. Refer to Fan Shroud Replacement .
5. Connect the fan motor connectors.
6. Install the wiring harness onto the fan shrouds.
7. Install the lower radiator hose.
8. Reposition the front stabilizer shaft to the crossmember.
9. Install the front stabilizer insulator clamp bolts. Tighten the bolts to 58 N·m (43 lb ft).
10. Lower the vehicle.

Fan Shroud Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the radiator upper support. Refer to Radiator Support Replacement .
2. Raise the vehicle and support. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
3. Disconnect the fan motor electrical connectors.
4. Remove the electrical connectors and harness from the fan shroud.
5. Remove the fan shroud:
o Move the fan shroud in a upward direction in order to clear the four retaining tabs on the radiator.
o Remove the fan shroud from the four retaining tabs on the radiator.
o Move the fan shroud in a downward direction in order to remove it from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


1. Install the fan shroud to the four retaining tabs on the radiator.
2. Install the fan motor electrical connectors.
3. Install the fan motor electrical connectors and harness to the fan shrouds.
4. Lower the vehicle.
5. Install the radiator upper support. Refer to Radiator Support Replacement .
