Any Powerloader or HPP III Attributable A4 Transmission Failures???
Does anyone know of any automatic transmission failures attributable to Powerloader or Hypertech III programing? I personally have never heard of any, but I always hear how careful one is supposed to be with the firmness settings of the HPP III and I know the Powerloader also has very firm settings and eliminates torque management besides. There are thousands and thousands of these programmers out there, for vehicles of all makes and models, and I would think if the settings were able to increase transmission line pressures to a detrimental level, we would be hearing about catastrophic transmission failures fairly regularly, and these guys would be out of business. If anyone has any actual info (NOT I have a friend, who has a brother who knew this guy who heard of a guy who had a failure, etc., etc.) it would be great to hear it. Thanks!

There was talk over on ls1..com that mentions the use of a big cam dropping vacumn pressure very low. The PCM controls the A4 based on a number of inputs including manifold vacumn. Between a cam and HPPIII, you may have real A4 problems. Guys who race with an auto trans have given up and are using a built turbo 350.

Those are Camaro owners.. running the Turbo350 & 400.. No offense 99HT but C5's can run with built A4's.. And some are pretty damn fast too.. I can't see giving up on it unless you were building a track car..

We have sold well over 200 Powerloader units in the past year and a half and have never heard of anyone having problems with their A4 transmission that were caused by the Powerloader programming. I know Steve Cole spent quite a bit of time on determining shift points and shift firmness to get the perfect combination of drivability, performance and longevity.

Thanks guys. These responses are what I expected. I've never heard of a failure diectly caused by either one. I know the Powerloader works great. I got a great buy on a HPP3, tried it a short while in the fall, and am planning on a full test in the spring. It solved my A4 shifting performance issues and I am really pleased with it.
I know that Hypertech sells thousands of these things for cars and trucks. and I can't believe evereyone is really all that careful with the settings. I would think that if the firmness settings were too crazy, we'd be hearing about transmission failures left and right. The fact is, you do not. This post has basically, confirmed my thoughts. Thanks for the input!
