Default new problem

well guys as some of you know i put a used motor in my 98 vette. I got done with the swap a couple of days ago and right away i had pretty high oil pressure around 70 psi or so but driving last night i noticed the psi up to 129 and it doesnt ever seem to fall even at idle at a light then i shut the car off but pulled the oil pressure gage up and its still reading the same. i have never seen anything with this much oil pressure is this possible? what could be causing this or could it be a faulty gage?

My guess would be a faulty sensor. Maybe a good time to install one of the sensor relocation kits with the new sensor.

The definitive diagnosis for a bad oil pressure sensor is to turn on the ignition but NOT the engine, if your gauge and DIC show any oil pressure, your sensor is bad. There should be no oil pressure with the engine not running.

it sucks, and it's behind/under the intake manifold... read the sticky up top, there are alternate ways to get to it, and with the aluminum ones they're selling now, they tend to go back pretty quickly so a lot of people opt to re-locate them and search for a brass one.

So you went to all the trouble of swapping a motor into your car, and you are just going to cut a hole because you don't want to remove the intake manifold ( which is a piece of cake ) ??

You could have damaged wiring, which will cause the same high oil pressure reading. If that's the case, you'll be pulling the intake manifold to get to it anyway.
