A 305 has a nearly 2 inches wider cross-section than the OE 275. Thouogh it would fit and probably hold pressure, it is too wide for the 9.5 inch wheel. Side loads from spirited driving "could" cause the bead to fail....and well you can figure the rest.

Here s my .02, You can listen to and do whatever you want but- I have a set of 305 35-18 on 9.5 rims(bought the car with them on it) and i have driven it at well over 160mph and NEVER had any problems, whether on curves or straight stretches. I would, and WILL do it again. Ask yourself this- "how many people do u know that have ever had a tire lose the bead?" I ll bet NONE. But, if you are like some on here, you won t dare put a 305 tire on a 9.5. I also have 335s on a set of 18x11!! OOOOOOOHHH NO!!!! You ll be fine, but thats just my .02, Its your choice. Peace- Jason

I just had 305s mounted on stock C6 rims and I had to forcefully tell the shop to mount them lol. They said there is no way they will fit. They ended up fitting just fine

Jason,
...You can put me as the first one on your list of people who have lost a bead during "high performance" driving. Luckily I only tore up the rim when it happened. It used to happen a lot more than it does today. Tires are much better than they used to be. I actually do not think that losing a bead is likely with a 305 on a 9.5 inch rim. I do think that some 305 tires will not put the tread down flat when mounted on a 9.5 inch rim. This will result in poor tire wear and in some cases poor handling. What brand of 305 did you have on 9.5 inch rims?
Jeff

These are Nitto X-treme s. the wheel is a +50mm(that s what it says on the inside of the wheel). Looks to be wearing evenly. I don t have any pics, and can t take any for a few more days cause im changing the clutch right now. but they fit in the wheel wells just right without any sticking out.
