After a long time doing a search, I didnt find anything. My question is If I bought just a gear (4:10) and needed it put in my rear end case. Who would I send it to? also Is there more stuff i need to buy? aslo would it be cheaper to buy one and send in my core? Thanks for any help, trying to save a little money for other mods
I can truley understand wanting to save some money for other mods. We have several levels of differentials avaliable but another option for you would be give the boys at Mayhem motorsports a call. Mayhem is in Raleigh NC and they often build corvette diffs for thier local customers. They can also provide the gear set for you also at a great price.
I turned in my 2:73 to DTE for a 3:42 differential. It runs great and DynoTech Engineering is another great Forum vendor. They are in Fort Wayne IN. Phil is a stand up guy too.
I wouldn't change internal gears as a ShadeTree Mechanic project. The Getrag unit is different than anything else you've been use-to.
Oh, you would eventually get it right after a couple of R&R's... but it's such a PIA to remove the carrier from the C5 that you'll kick yourself for not paying a professional to do the ring & pinion swap for you.
Replacing the carrier as a whole unit can be a DIY project; but the internal gears is too risky IMO.

Oh yea I dont wanna do it myself. But I have a lift and alot of experiance in taking the drivetrain out. I just thought if I bought what I needed and sent my diff off to get someone to put it together and then send it back, It might could save me a little bit of money for other mods.
