I have the FLP tranny and am happy with it.
If the GP is still on it costs 1800$. Worth every $ IMHO.
The tranny shifts damn fast, so fast you sometimes don´t recognise the 2-3shift when cruising.
My wife did not rcognise the new tranny, so that says all :D
You can hear the tranny on my vidoes on my homepage (search at "meine Corvette").
FLP also puts in a vacuum shift modulator that helps the tranny shifting.
So no longer the PCM dials in the shift fimness but the engine vacuum does.
I like how it performs.
I also have lot´s of 150 and 200 wets hot NOS tuns and a high speed run on it without any problems.
I just heard that FL has some new parts to make it even stronger, but it´s the best tranny out yet, IMHO.
The same tranny is on a 1000nM turbo car of a friend sice two seasons now, still working great. Also black thunder has it on his 1000+hp 3stage NOS car that CARTEK built him.

Re: bullet proof a4 tranny (Austrian Vette)
I second what Michael Says. I have been very pleased with My stage IV FLP Tranny which now has over 4000 miles on it:D I paid $2,700.00 and didn't blink so if you can get it for $1,800.00 that soudns like on hell of a price!
I have the FLP tranny in my car. Chuck at FLP has done a lot of R & D on this one and now is in the process of developing some more of the internals with greater strength.
I have not tested mine to the full extent yet, but will be doing so within the next 2-3 weeks.
Dave at Cartek, has the Stage IV tranny and has gone 10.90 with a head and cam 3700 lb Trans Am. Car shifts beautifully!
Keep your eye on the Forum for future postings when my car is completely dialed in!
I'd like to know what it is that they do to the trans that makes it so much better!!!I have a buddy who is a GM Vette tech and said he could rebuild mine. Was just wondering what it is that they do or replace when they up-grade these that make them $1800-$2500!!!

I assisted Mike of DRM in rebuilding mine. The most difficult part was getting it in and out of the car! There aren't a lot of parts available other than clutch plates, modulator and bands.. Other parts could fail but those just mentioned parts need to be improved first to cause others to fail imho.. It didn't take long and I bought the parts.... 1,800 isnt out of wack at all imho.. But if your spraying, supercharging ect... don't expect one rebuild for the life of your car...
Possible Improvements
Improved programming
Modulator
# of Clutch Plates
Material of Clutch Plates
Bands
(Feel free to add to this list of possible improvements)
For now thats pretty much it.... If these are done right it should hold up pretty well.
As to why FLP uses engine vacumn vs the computer?? It would be nice to hear from them why they feel this is necessary.
I spoke with Chuck and the Level IV uses a vacumn modulator rather than line pressure to affect shifts; apparently this is much more accurate. I know he adds some clutch plates.
I just ordered mine. This is part of the big plan to get blown.
