got the "pull key wait 10 seconds".....but with a twist
I have read all the threads....seen them for years. ive had all the recalls...ect.. ect..
I even bought the chip thingy CLB. But I didnt put it in as it didnt coem with a jumper to unlock the wheel as i installed the CLB...oh well
anyway, last night it happened. the wheel locked. So I proceded to shake the wheel back and forth, pull the key, open the door then shut it, then it just unlocked and worked.....anyone every had this happen? I thought I was screwed
No that is pretty much standard protocol to get it "unstuck". Nothing really new there. What do you mean by "no jumper" came with your CLB to get the wheel unstuck? You sort of lost me there. This plus the fact that you said you had all the GM recall stuff done. I do hope your aware that the GM recall stuff is counter productive to what the CLB does. In fact, you can't put a CLB on your car unless all that GM stuff is removed and the car put back to stock. Well everything except removing the lock plate. That is fine and probably a good idea to be removed if you have had this problem happen more then once. You might want to go back and re-read the sticky and a bunch of my posts concerning how the pull key wait 10 seconds thing works. Did you have a message every come up and say "Service Column Lock"? Did your car have 1, 2 or more recalls done? What exactly was done for those recalls? Is your battery a fresh and new one or a few years old? Has your car ever just shut off by itself when you tried to go faster then say 2mph? Lots of questions to ask yourself and post up here.
Please elaborate on your situation so we can help you out a little more.

here's some reading for you.........for what it is worth, no-one has come up with remedy for my "pull key wait" message. I get it EVERY time I start the car......unless I leave the keys in the ignition.
I started this thread some time ago, and have tried every method mentioned.....the only thing left for me is to to sell and buy a C6.

yes, did say service column lock. i have had 2 recalls doen i BELIEVE...was done before I bought the car. Batt is new. car has never shut itself off. I was not aware you couldnt use the CLB with recalls done. When I got the CLB, my buddy said his came with a jumper to hook in teh cig lighter to keep the lock open while I plugged in the CLB. When I went to put this in, it locked everytime I disconnected the wires under neath the dash
More correctly the CLB will not work if the GM recall pieces parts are left in place.
Get the GM Service history for your car and review the work GM has done. Available free from any GM dealer or contact Gene Culley or Dennis Fichtner, both Forum Sponsors, with your VIN and they will provide it. Look through the Claim History and under the Labor Operation heading. Look for 04006 the GM reference to the official NHTSA recall or 01044 the GM reference to the Customer Satisfaction Program (CSP) that preceded the official recall. Note the date(s) the service was provided because there were at least 4 variations of the official recall. 04006 between Feb. 2004 and Aug. 2004, 04006A between Aug. 2004 and Nov. 2004, 04006B between Nov. 04 and Jan. 06, and 04006C from Jan 06 to present. CSP 01044 was done between 1998 and Feb. 2004. Each variation did slightly different things and was also dependant upon any previous variations that may have been done to the car.
Most cars just have the K Harness and fuel shutoff set but some have a second relay in the passenger footwell under the BCM, Others have only one of the relays and the fuel shutoff speed set. Can't tell what was done by GM, let alone previous owners, without the GM Service History.
Does your column lock with no key in the ignition? If no, you may already have a CLB installed.
I agree with 8VETTE7, I would do what he said and go from there. You have to get the car back down to stock and get rid of all the crap GM has done to it (exluding the lock plate...leave that out if GM removed it, if they didn't now would be a good time to get it done). Once that is done, you can install the CLB. Your wheel will never ever lock again. It is known that even with a CLB installed you may in time still get fuel shut off to happen if GM flashed your car while doing any of the recalls. It's been known to happen. If this does happen, you have 2 options.
1. Go to GM and have them remove the fuel cutoff that they put into your PCM while doing one of the many recalls. (NOT MY RECOMMENDATION THOUGH!!!)
2. Get a good tuner to up your fuel cutoff to be 255 in a tuning software program such as HP tuners. (RECOMMEND)
You pretty much have to take it one step at a time...your choice how far to dig into the problem at this level.
