Received the new red top battery today from LAPD. Will install this weekend but noticed that it has posts on the top as well as the sides. Someone a few weeks ago posted pictures of a cover that they purchased for their battery and think that would be great to cover up the exposed top posts after install. I checked Optima's web page but no sign of a cover.
Re: Optima battery cover? where to find? (C5Rated)
Sent them an e-mail inquiring how to get one. Did you just send them your address and they sent you one? Willing to pay to get that clean cover look. To bad they don't advertise them on their web site.

Yes, send them your address and tell them which battery you have and that you want the cover for it. Also, ask for the curved GM hold-down puck. Stephanie got back to me via email in a few days and my cover and puck arrived in about a week to 10 days. BTW, there is some talk that these covers won't be free for long.

This is true. I spoke with them about this a few weeks ago. They said once they're out of this batch, there won't be anymore for free. I don't know if that means they aren't making anymore, or if they'll charge you for now on?

I guess I must have missed the cut here. I emailed sales@optimabatteries.com and they are telling me I have to order part numbers 242-0018 and 242-0041. They are recommending I purchase through a retailer for monetary savings, so it must not be free anymore.:(
