Default Unported Trickflow 215's

Is there anything i need to know about putting TFS 215cc heads on my 02Z? are these and the rockers a better combo for my 232/234 cam then the AFR 205?

car is a street car only and is daily driven just looking for alittle more power... dont care to much about the numbers i just want it to run right and ive seen some bad combos out there

mods:

Kooks 1 7/8 LTs and catted X
Borla Stingers
black wing
UDP
tuned at 420rwhp <- which i think is a hair high for my combo but car runs great except for the fact that the Patriot springs have 33k on them and are begging to come out...

i know this varies car to car... but am i going to need more fuel injector?

thanks guys

In your case I wouldn't say the Trickflows are better than the AFR 205's. Both are premium heads and would work well. I would just mill either of them a bit like to 62cc to bump compression a bit.

Are you sure you're talking about "Unported" 215s. They're usually sold already CNC'd, like from Summit, etc. I'd get them from TEA, and have them milled to 59cc for added compression. If you ask a guy with AFR heads, he'll believe they're better, and vice-versa. If you're in a 91 oct. state, maybe have the heads milled to 61cc. That cam should work well.

these are the 1600 a set heads.. i have 93 here but i would like to get them milled and try to get close to 11.0 CR

is the porting of the TFS worth alot more power? i was planning on using the saved money on a ported 90/90 or 92/92

The only reason to buy the "as cast" versions, is if you're a head porter, and plan on DIY. Ifyou don't want to spend 2300 on heads, look at budget heads like Patriot. BTW, with my TFs, I ended up with 10.9 SCR, and with only 92 oct. got absolutely no KR, so I would get more comp. if I had a do-over.

You will need an aftermarket set of RR's, you cannot use the stock Rocker Arm set-up!

This is my E-Mail straight from Trick Flow:

Matt,That is correct, you cannot use a stock rocker arm on our head. The factory GM LS1 valvetrain geometry is optimized for approximately .500" lift. When using a high lift aftermarket camshaft the factory rocker arm becomes a liability as fas as valvetrain geometry is concerned. Sure, they are quiet, but they will prematurely eat the valveguides when used on aftermarket heads with bronze guides. We know this because we have done a tremendous amount of testing on a variety of aftermarket LSx heads. If you decide to use the factory rockers, that is your decision. However, When the valveguides wear out, it will be your financial responsibilty to fix it. Just so you know, When you replce guides you will need to do another valvejob. Normally, a good valvejob is in the $200-275.00 range...

At this point it said it all I went with the Harland Sharps RR but a lot of Vette owners like the Yella terra (Which I would of rather done) !

Thanks,Matt

Aftermarket rockers are recommended with TFS or AFR heads!
