backfire on deseleration





You said 4 large oval tips...it could be this system: this one is a Billy Boat's system:

There are lots of systems that have similar tips though, so i dunno. If you really want to find out, check out the mufflers for identifying marks or a name on them.
As far as an X pipe and tuning goes. It's only going to help so much. I have had my car tuned, x pipe installed and it still pops. I have corsa so its not horrible for the popping. I like it personally, but do understand where you coming from. Some of the time the sound sneaks up on you when you downshift and you get an unpredicting POP! POP! POP POP!!!! In time you will get use to it. It's pretty much natural for the LSX engines. (this means all LS based engines and there are a lot of them: LS1, LS3, LS6, LS7...you get the idea). It's the firing order I believe that causes it. Anyways....wait till the mod bug catches you! You think it won't, but trust me...it does...it's addicting! Welcome to the forum man!
