Default FRC tranny question

Is the gear ratios in the tranny of a FRC the same as a zo6 tranny? Im going to do a gear change and ive heard if its has a zo6 tranny i need to buy 3:90s. If it has a regular c5 tranny i need 4:10s?? Any info would be appreciated...thanks.

My 99 FRC has the MN6 tranny. The Z06s have the MN12 tranny - lower ratios.

I believe the axle ratio for all FRC's were 3:42, (correct me if I'm wrong). That's not too bad considering what you intend to use the car for.

LS1/MN6 LS6/M12
1st Gear 2.66:1 2.97:1
2nd Gear 1.78:1 2.07:1
3rd Gear 1.30:1 1.43:1
4th Gear 1.00:1 1.00:1
5th Gear 0.74:1 0.84:1
6th Gear 0.50:1 0.56:1
Reverse 2.90:1 3.28:1

Both the FRC and Z06 have 3.42 rear-end gears.

IIRC to match the gearing in a Z06, you need to go with a 3.9 rear-end differential.

Thanks guys for all the information. I guess i will go with a 4.10 gear. I assumed that since it was a z51 car it would have the same tranny ratios as a zo6. A local tuner told me if it wasn't a z06 he would suggest a 4.10 gear instead of a 3.90. Im hope the steeper gear will help the drivabilty for my car since it has a larger cam.(no idea of the specs???)

I had a big cam in my last LS1 and I'd suggest that you have the car professionally tuned. With a nice dyno tune (or even better -a street tune) you will have not only more power, but also much better drivabilty and fuel economy.

Only if you ordered the ultra-rare automatic FRC.
