Default Help wiith Nitto 555R tires.....

Should I get the 275/40VR17 $155 or the 315/35VR17 $167. Also how much will this help my 1/4 times. I'm mounting these on stock rims.

Thanks alot

I love my Nitto 555's but They now have a 305x45x18 555RDrag Radial.A little tall at 28.8" but they might fit if you haven't lowered the car:rolleyes:

That means you are mounting them on the 17x8.5 front wheels. A 315/35/17 will not fit on an 8.5" rim, even 9.5" is a bit much in my opinion.

How much it helps your 1/4 mile is dependent on how much HP you're making and how traction limited you are.

Mostly stock? A coupe of 1/10's maybe. Got a 422 with twin turbos, it'll help a whole lot more.

Nitto recommends a 9.0" - 11.0" rim width for the P275/40R17 size and
10.5"-12.0" for the 315/35R17 size.

I'm on my 3rd pair of P275/40R17 555R's on my Z28 with 17X9 rims. They hook up well on the streets and help out some at the track. But slicks are the way to go for traction. :D

Definately 275 on a stock 17x9 1/2 rim. 315s will be too wide and you won't get a full contact patch from what I've heard. I run 275 Nittos on a 17x9.5" rim and it works great at the track.

NITTO SHMEETO....... for gods sake buy American!....
I am not impressed with NITTO's, rather have the BFG's. IMHO....
( just received my M/T ET Streets ... had enough for the extreme NITTO's, although they are ok for the street, just not enough for the strip....nothing like the M/T's......

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D

If you have a discount tire near you they will match any price on line. I just bought two 555r's for $138 a piece  . All I did was ask. they didn't even verify the online price. 25/40/17's. Good luck.

the 555R's are great. do not use the 17x8 rims; not wide enough. what i recommend, if you have an extra $550 laying around, is buying a set of 17x11 Torq Thuster II rims by American Racing Wheel. then get the 555R's in the 315 size. they work out perfect. i have tried both the BFG Drag Radials and BFG Force T/A R1 Auto X tires; i like the Nittos best.
