Transmission rattle question
I have a 2003 6 speed convertible. I am aware of the rattle when you turn the engine off and the clutch pedal is up--- I'm not talking about that. When the car and drive train are at operating temperature (doesn't seem to happen when everything is cold). when I start off from a stop in first gear, I get a rattle unless I start off with the engine at higher RPMs. I know the rattle you get if you start off with insufficient rpm, but with what I consider adequate rpm I still get that metal rattle unless I raise the rpm to a level higher than I believe is necessary (which just wears the clutch out more quickly). It's a rattle that sounds like metal vibrating against metal -- not a deeper sound. Where should I look under the car to see what is loose --- or could this be the shifter linkage? Car only has 5,000 miles on her and has always been babyed. Anybody experience this and have any ideas what to do and where to look? Rattles drive me CRAZY
