I am doing 3.73 gears and the vortex rammer. I don't really want a converter since i never go to the track, but i do want mods that i can feel. What should be my next mod?
Gears and a Vortex Rammer are a great place to start. However I think your best value would be to get a set of 3.42 gears instead of the 3.73s and put the extra money towards a good torque converter.
Torque Converters are definitely not just for racing. They are the best performance adder you can do to an A4 C5. They allow you to keep the RPMs up in the range where the car makes some nice power when you stomp on it. I would strongly suggest considering getting a nice streetable torque converter. If you are going with 3.73 gears, the Super Yank 3500 with a 1.67 STR would work very good. The low STR makes this converter VERY streetable and you would be suprised at how it would liven up your car.
My next step on an A4 car would be a Powerloader. It is a custom PCM programmer that works some wonders in how your transmission is controlled. The shifts are much firmer and optimized for performance AND drivability. Just ask people's opinions of a Powerloader on the forum and I am sure you will get answers from many of the 300 or so satisfied customers.
Next I would do a set of Long Tube headers and an exhaust system. The headers will get you 15-20rwhp and the exhaust will get you 7-8rwhp and improved looks and sound.

You've come to the wrong place if you want advice on mods. Nobody on the forum believes in modding. We prefer stock.
You would get a much better bang for the buck, if you go with 3.42 and a torque converter! We know!
Al, with the mods I have below & running what I now do...how much do expect I would pickup with the 3400 STR? I just got new 295/35/18's on the back...the times below were on run-craps!
