Default Patriot Heads

I have a 02 c5 stock. I found this set of heads for about $900 bucks. Is this what I need. I don't no much about heads. I think the 243 casting is a stock ZO6 head. These are ported . This should be a 50hp upgrade or so , am I right? Here are the specs Does it sound like a good deal?

These are good heads but with a stock engine you would be lucky to see half the 50 hp gain. My opinion, you would be better off doing all the bolt on's before worrying about heads. Cold air intake, ported intake manifold, ported throttle body, headers and a catback exhaust. After all that then would be the time to consider heads and cam. But it's your car and the heads certainly won't hurt it. Have fun

You asked if these are the heads you need?

We dont know your goals, so we cant answer that question.
Paired with a good cam and headers/exhaust, you'll get nice results.

Patriot heads are budget heads so they arent the best heads available, but if you dont need the best, than they should be fine for you.

If they are $900 used, that's too much. They arent much more than that when new.
Offer $600 and be prepared to pay $700.

There are plenty of cars making 400 RWHP with these heads, so it really depends on the goals you have for your car.

Best of success with you project.

I am getting a vararam cold air induction, shorty headers and a 228R cam. Then a tune. Wanted to upgrade the heads rather than the 200 it costs to upgrade my springs. That is my goal for now. I would like 420 hp or so. Would like to run in the high 11's somehow.

You came here asking for some advise, so here goes...

Dont waste your money on shorty headers...

Long tube headers, that cam and those heads should get you about 420hp and well into the 11's

Default shorties

I would like long tube headers but I am worried about emissions. I have to pass inspection.

are these heads new or used? if used that'sway too much. I have the same heads with 59cc a mild texas speed cam longtubes and ls6 intake and i make about 430 to the wheels. I think i paid about 1200.00new for the heads.

The factory exhaust manifolds on your C5 are modern day marvels compared to almost all factory setups before it.

They are very similar to shorties in their own regard.

Don't blow cash if you're thinking about shorties on a C5.... if this was a '92-95 LT1... then shorties would just barely come into the picture.

So your saying my stock manifolds will be about as good as shorties. Not to waste money. Is this going to hold me back bigtime not going with longtubes vs. stock manifolds. How much horse power loss are we talking with all the bolt ons , heads and a cam. Thanks
