Temp Gauge/Engine Cooling Question
My temp. gauge usually rides right around 220. This afternoon while on a short trip it shot up two notches beyond 220! Something it's never done before, even on a hot day. Today it's only 62 degrees. I thought perhaps I'd sucked up a plastic bag but nothing is obstructing the radiator. I've changed the coolant twice in 72,000 miles. Nothing appears to be leaking anywhere, the cap still holds pressure, and the waterpump it turning OK. Fairly new belt etc. No codes were in the dic.
I'm at a loss? Could the temp. sending unit be bad? Where is it located?
