Default Oil pressure sensor module

Hello.
Ihave a 98 Corvette Coupe. The oil gage or sensor module keeps shutting down. The oil gage pegs over all the way to the right. My DIC reads 130 psi which the service manager says is possibly a kinked line. I have had the sensor or module replaced three times. It only works correctly for a few months. The car does not burn oil and everything else works great. I am wondering is there a line from the sensor to the gage. If that is the case, I don't want to pay again for work that isn't being done correctly. Please help.
Mindy

Bad sensors, relocate it from behind the intake so it won't hurt so much when you have to replace it.

Hi Mindy, Its a bad sensor. Go to Kragen and purchase one. The ones they sell now are the brass bodied ones. More dependeble, or at least the one I installed has been. I went through 2 of the aluminum ones also One lasted about a month and the other lasted about 11 months. I live fairly close to you if you need help installing it. Its about an hour to 2 hour job. PM me and let me know.......

It is purely an electro-mechanical component. The only "line" that runs from this sending unit to the gauge inside the car is called "electrical wiring".

If you actually have a "service manager" tell you it is possibly a "kinked" line, feel free to tell him he does NOT know what he is talking about before you commence using a 2X4 liberally about his head or shoulders.

If you are having this work done at a GM dealership, they are pretty much required to stand by their work and replace it free of charge as it does have a warranty if installed by them.

Take some time to read the sticky at the top of this section on this matter.

I agree totally! If it was done at a dealer, take it back. The part at least is warrantied by GM for a year. They do not warrant labor though. The alluminum ones don't appear to last unless you relocate them. As mentioned already, there are new brass ones coming out now which should solve most of these issues....hopefully.

As Mentioned above, If it was dealer installed and is a dealer part, buy all means take it back to the dealer its a freebie. If its been less than a year........
