When I restore the factory tune into my car, does that unlock the Diablo Sport Predator tuner or is there something else I need to do before it can be used on another Corvette?
I thought they were locked by the vin number of the car. Does it completely go back with putting the stock tune back in to be able to go on another car?
I have one and I like it (made a big difference in the feel of the drive.) but if I get a dyno tune after some mods sometime I'd like to be able to sell the restored Predator...
Yes when you reinstall the tune you took off the first time you used the predator it will unlock it for use on another vehicle of the same series. It has an option of writing a factory tune but this will not unlock the device. You must restore the original back-up.
BTW If someone else tunes the car you can save that as the original backup I believe and still play around a little without losing your tune. I haven't actually done this but I'm pretty sure that it will work.
I believe that the earlier models, revision#1xx, will not unlock from the original vin#, even if original tune is returned to car. You can check that at their website.

Absolutely correct info.
Generally as earlier described, restoring probably will unlock the device. However, some earler models will not ever unlock, you have to send them back to Diablosport, which will only unlock it if you can prove you're the original purchaser.
It's easy to check the firmware version, as well as after the restore, there's a tool status that will show "device unlocked".
Make sure you do a restore before a pro tune or you'll be left with a paperweight.
