Default K&n cai

Does anyone have the K&N cold air intake?
Felt any difference in performance?
I was reading on k&n web site and it says you need to cut some stuff, and drill, is that really necessary??

I want a little bit more performance but i dont want to cut the car or anything, i also know that the best cai is the vararam but is too much work to put in the car.

Im open to options tanks

I have that set-up and price was the factor for purchase. I really like it and it seemed to give me a seat of the pants upgrade. The cutting they say to do....I did not. I did not want to CUT into that part. Hood closed just fine. I have since bought a vararam and plan to install when I get car out of storage.

No you won't feel any "seat of the pants" difference.

i have had mine know for two years. i love it. to begin with you will see an increase in horsepower, but you only really feel it in upper limits of the powerband, i.e., 4000 plus rpm.

Secondly, k&n is a true cold air induction, therefore it is absolutley silly to spend the money and not cut the radiator shroud. it defeats the purpose, cooler air will not flow into the engine bay, and you will have wasted several hundred dollars and an afternoon install.

you are only cutting the plastic radiator shroud, which if you ever decide to change out you can for less than 100 dollars. secondly, the parts included with the kit, provide you with metal brackets and bolts, which are installed on the shroud where it is cut, to give it more support, the hardware looks nice, and if you make a clean cut, the neophyte would never know it is not stock.

and lastly, you wont have to worrry about changing your filer as often, you can go 50K miles before cleaning it, the dirtier it gets the better it filters. for tha money it is the best value.

my 2 cents.

if you have any questions pm me.

alex.

The K&N, can be a true CAI if you make the proper cuts to the radiator shroud, and also the shrouds around your fog lights on the front bumper. Allowing air to enter the bumper opening, it functions like a ZO6 with the screens.
A Vararam, which I have, works great, and you definitely feel a SOTP diffenece. Yes, it is a real pain to install, but with a friend to help, it's a few hours, and a few beers on a weekend afternoon. The results are there right away, although a good tune will help even though they say you don't need one. Find one here used, and you can save some money too, or look for the many specials that vendors have. That's how I got mine, with a special price.
Just do it.

PM me when you get it out of storage if you plan to sell your K&N set up. I am looking and may be interested. Thanks

Alright, that wal helpful.

I guess i wont get it them, i really dont want to do something to the car that i cant take it back easily. i plan in sell the car to get a c6 z and modified car get a much lower price than stock.

So far i have a k&n filter, and the box cover with the big opening (bigger than the z06 one).

Any input on cai or anything else are welcome.

Thanks again
