Has anyone put a set of these in their car lately ? ... I was thinking about putting them in, but wasnt sure about the installation part. How involved is it ? Is it a DIY or have to have dealer or shop do it for you ?
I have put on a couple of sets. The last set I did took me about 3 hours taking my time. You basically have to unbolt the dash so that you can raise it up high enough to remove the guage cluster. Then you open up the guage cluster and lay the white face guages over the stock guages and attach them with double sided tape. Then you reinstall the guage cluster and bolt the dash back up. Here is some pics of me doing one: http://godspeed.lockeliddell.com/God...geInstallPics/
Derek,
If u find a shop or dealer in the Tampa/St.Pete/Sarasota area that will do the white gauge install, please let me know..I would love to have the gauges installed, but am not confident enuf to do it myself..
Mine were delivered Friday and I am going to install them this week. Hopefully they will be easier to install than it has been for me to figure out how to get a picture of my C5 on my signature!!
I hear the install is not for the faint of heart..I am going to order them tomorrow, but will have someone install them for me..Don't know if Jake has ever installed them before..
Here is a site with a good pictorial on installing them. I have used to it to get my courage up to tackle this project. I'll let you know next weekend if it was right.
I also plan to take a lot of digital pix of this so I can get it posted in the tech help section to help all of the others who will be doing this in the future.
Hey guys honestly I wouldn't worry. The install isn't that bad, just a little tedious. The link above describes how to unbolt the steering column to get the guage cluster out from below. It may save you even more time than unbolting the dash as how I did in the past. Good luck, and let me know if you need any pointers.
Thanks for your help. I have a call into "Corvettemasters" in Orlando and they have done 3-4 installs including Mr. Peach's car. They will call me back with a quote..I figure 3-4 hours of labor times whatever their labor rates may be..Expensive proposition, but those gauges sure look hot..It would be nice if we could 2 or 3 local people together and we could all plow through this thing together..
Well dmc.....so far you , onyxdream, and me are all getting them right now. Ours are already shipped I found out tonight soo hopefully it wont be long ! Also...e-mail me with your price quote from CorvetteMasters if you could !
