I had a fuel filter leak on my 97. I put a new fuel filter on but what a pain in the a$$. One big problem was getting to it. It was right above the exhaust pipe with very little room to get your hand up to it. The other big problem was disconnecting the fuel lines. I finally got to it and managed to get the fuel lines disconnected and replaced it. It took me hours to disconnect the fuel lines for I was trying not to damage anything. I was tempted to take the exhaust system down to access it better but I managed somehow. The question I have is what kind of tool is used to disconnect the fuel lines? The next time I do the fuel filter replacement I want to have the correct tool. If anyone has a picture or a link to the tool I need for this would be appreciated. Thanks ahead of time.
I bought 2 fuel filter release tools. Neither worked, I even ground down one to fit better, it didn't work. I tried several times, at oil changes.
Then my fuel filter started leaking, I replaced it with my hands. My conclusion, hands work just fine.
The tools come in plastic and metal. They are rings or sleeves on the end of scissors.
Thanks for the input. Seems like somebody would make the correct tool though. I've seen all kinds (dozens) of quick disconnect tools but which one is the correct one for this job. I like you finally got the job done with my fingers but it wasn't easy in my case anyway.
