Default Wisplash Cam, headers, Run before tuning???

Hello,

I have a 2001 vette with a magnuson blower on it.

For this spring, my project is to install myself a Wisplash cam (240, .615, 114... approx.) long headers, complete exhaust and high flow cats.

Some told me that I absolutly need to get it tune with this new cam.

The closer speedshop is at around 150 miles from here.

My question is, can I safely run my car on the city and highway for 150 miles (driving under 2500RPM and not more than 60 miles/h) or I need to get it towed to the tune shop.

Thanks

If it's a M6 car, you could probably pull it off, but you will have to nurse the gas pedal to keep it running when coming to stops, as it will probably not want to idle on it's own. Having the blower and custom tune already on the car may help you in this regard though,

If an A4, it will be much more difficult if you do find it won't idle.

Once you get the cam in, you can try driving it around your local area and see how it does. Then you will know for sure if you feel you can drive it to the tuner or not.

From a "you're gonna blow it up" standpoint, nothing to worry about. If you feel it's driveable, then drive it.

My cam is slightly larger than the Whiplash, and I drove it from Florida to Wisconsin basically untuned (1400 miles). It can be done.

Thanks Y2Kvert4me.

I confirm it's a M6 model.

Any others run untuned without problems? Any one got problems running it untuned?

Thanks

I just re-installed my PCM that I had pre-tuned for the mods that I did this past winter. H,C,I,TB, and I chose the Whiplash cam also. A 2000 cpe with MN6, CAI, and LT's already in place.

Doug Ring at East Coast Superchargers put in the tune. I will make the 90 mile jaunt to ECS to get the final touches and hit the dyno.

Hopefully any driveability issues will be at a minimum.......

Good luck with your build.....
