Default Headers with my Mods???

The question is for you C5 Mod gurus :yesnod:
Will the gains with stock heads be real enough to be worth the expense and hassle?
I wanna do it but won't unless the HP & TQ gains in real numbers are worth it
TIA for your expert advice!

If you do headers, make sure you do Long Tubes IMO. But yes I think it will worth it. Of course heads and a cam shouldbe done to realize there full potential :)
Thanks Buckmaster!....How about just a cam? I've been reading that the stock heads actually have a pretty good flow rate and the cam addition will be fruitful on it's own? What's your opinion?
Thanks again

Do a CAM...
You'll be happier.
Look at my recent post

I did the TPIS and did not really notice much at all..Maybe 10-12hp at most..
I spent $1500 for the TPIS and Installation.

That $1500 would be better spent on a CAM, maybe a pulley also.
You'll see 25hp to 30hp easy...

If you can only do one mod and don't mind going into the engine, go for the cam. If you can do both, that will really maximize the improved breathing.

Sorry I can't agree with my brethren but I think the TPIS headers were worth every penny IMHO.My exhaust system is producing good h.p. and tons of torque with no cam or headwork.Check out my Dyno graph in the performance registry.

Allthough...My next mod WILL be a cam:D

Thanks guys!...Money is not my issue here...The Vette is mine and I'm putting my play money into her now :yesnod:
I did buy the 5 year extended warranty but I'm not gonna wait to crack the engine open just for that reason anymore...
I really just want to maximize the results of any mods I do for the right reasons and not spend time and money needlessly just because it all looks good in my sig. :D
Your input is just what I was looking for in this thread...I know a lot of you have gone through these experiments before me and I want to learn from the best ;)
Thanks again,

Hey, im thinking about doing the same. Car is paid off so now got some extra $$ to boost it up! I think im going to intall a CAM, longtube headers, and get a LS6 intake manifold. It should give my car a little more zip!

Yep, a great combo, Cam, L/T headers, pulley and LS-6 intake! Possible 53 - 60 rwhp gain! The bottom line is, you still need L/T Headers for maximum gains!

I would do the headers first. Then if you're willing to tear into the engine do the cam & heads at the same time to get the benefits :)

I was at the same point in mods as you when I took the big plunge, brought a wheelbarrow full of money and had MMS do it all, same time. It costs less in labor to do this way. If you are going to do it in stages, then I'd do the long tube headers first. Next do the cam, and add the underdrive pulley, or the LS6 intake. Do the heads last. Oh yeah-- Start saving up for rear tires and a new clutch.

I think headers would work great for you with you current mods. If you can do a cam, that would be awesome too. Just the headers will put you even with an '01 Z06, and, with drag radials, you'll be running with '02 Z06s. I have the same mods as you, plus TPIS long tubes, and can run mid-low 12s consistantly on drag radials. My MPH is always right around 114mph, so I know the headers are giving me some power. :yesnod: Considering average for people without exhaust/intake and no headers seems to be 109-111mph.

:D I'm quickly getting convinced that a short trip to LPE (not that far from me) is gonna be in order to have the professionals add a Cam, Headers and take care of the tuning the PCM will need to make my Vette use all of this stuff the right way..
Keep the ideas coming guys...You know I'll blame all of you performance fanatics here on the Forum anyway when my wife asks me what happened to the bank account!! ;)
Thanks a million :yesnod:

A cam will definitely help and you will feel the results for sure. If I had a choice of heads or a cam in the car I would do a cam.....probably a lot less expensive too :D Long Tubes and a cam would be awesome for your car.....I think you would like the results :D
I agree with this in every way!!! See sig.....
You WILL DEFINATELY notice the difference. It kinda reminds me of the feel you get when a turbo kicks in because you can't tell it's there until you hit a certain rpm then... :seeya :seeya :seeya
