I don't know about the number but have read all 2001 up and some late 2000 models have the larger (12mm) bushings. I just did my built Feb 00 couple and it had 10 mm units. I put the BMW units in but wonder if they will be as strong. The rubber is softer. Good luck with it. By the way you will need a torch to loosen the loctited bolts.
Some indications are: vibration @ high RPM; Noise in the drivetrain. Mine had 48K miles when I took this out and replced it. You can see where they crack over time. I have seen these crack as early as 30K miles.
I used BMW unit in the front and this billet unit out back. I'm pushing over 440 RWHP and no issues.
My cars front one looked like the pic posted here at 46 k. No vibration, just thought I'd check while doing clutch. Mine were delvered from an online BMW supplier for 101.00 shipped for 2.
