I down loaded the hypertech to my 98 C-5 A-4 and about 50% the c-5 display said reduce power and all the gauges just stoped working, i kept loading until completed, the car started than died it would not run, so i loaded the stock back from the hypertech, it would still not run. so i disconnected the batt. for a few sec. and eveythng went back to normal. Has any one had this type of problem???? im not sure if i want to use hypertech any more if it causes these crazy things to happen.. I loaded everything by the book, no movement, just sat in the vette doing nothing the whole time it loaded.
thanks jerrhyk :mad
I had the same thing happen to me once. After re-connecting the battery the car started. I hooked up the HPPPIII to reset the programming back to stock. As soon as I input the VIN etc. I received a message that the last session was aborted and incomplete. If I remember correctly, it went right ahead and finished loading. When it was complete, everything was fine. I always get the DIC message of "reduced power" but then it goes away and all seems to be fine. I have used my HPPPIII about four or five times and only run into this situation once. Not sure this helps but al least your not alone.
Everytime I load the HPP3, I see this message along with a few other chimes that used to scare me. What you have is a compound issue. The loading probably went OK or aborted for some reason. You probably should verify battery condition just as someone else stated. The entire load takes over 10 to 15 minutes sometimes.
Now the going back to stock problem with the "no start". You are encountering an anti-theft lockout issue. Restart the HPP3, let it boot up to the part after it says 'Validating Vin", then just turn the key off. Disconnect the HPP3. The car will now start. Email me for clarification if you're stuck.
Disconcerting when things don't go right, no? The battery thing can be a real issue when you need to load more than once. You can in fact open up the Hypertech unit an install a 9v battery. ;)
Never let the battery run out or your screwed. I even had a 9 volt in the HT and the battery went low. I had to pull the computer out and overnight it to Hypertech to get it fixed. It was never the same.
