Here are some pictures of my solution to a hot ttranny. I added a B&M tranny cooler inside the rear fender area and also added some Z06 vents to give it some fresh air. The cooler is on standoffs from the frame made from some inch wide aluminum straps. I put a relay in the rear fender area and supplied the hot lead from the fuel pump wire in the fuse box next to the battery.
Before making the cutouts in the rockers I taped up the panels with painter tape to keep the saw from scratching. Plus I could draw on it with a marker and not worry about the paint. I had some SS/braided hoses made to run to the tranny and the cooler line. The lines were -8 and they cost me about $150 to have made.
It works great and really knocked about 30 degrees off of the tranny tempos.
That was it, pretty easy but the pic's may help someone else. I also ended up drilling some vent holes in the inner fenderwell coverto help get the air out. Make sure you wire the fan to push, not pull. The fan will fight the incoming air from the fan if it is pulling.

OK. Thnx. Looks like I need REAL Zo6 brake ducts to do this. I have the fake ones on there right now. Do I have to go to the Stealership for the ducts are is there aftermarket ones?

Hey can you show a shot of it hooked to the Tranny?
That would be real cool and perhaps elaborate on the lines you used
Thanks,Matt
Matt,
I really could not even see the holes I screwed the fittings into on the tranny let alone get a picture! I had Stainless braided aircraft hoses made that were -8an fittings. A 90 on one end, 45 on the other.

Hey Steve@RDS--what temp was you tranny running @ before you to added the cooler...I've got a temp problem of my own and just need some input...I've got a tranny that shifts excellent and functions properly but after 45 minutes of easy driving the temp reads up around the 230's-240's which causes me to cut my ride short and park until it cools off.
I don't really get it.....What is wrong with putting it in front of the normal rad? I did that with no issue whatsoever and the tranny temp is never an near a hot temp. Also, air should be flowing through the cooler, yet you mounted it against something, weird. I guess the fan fixes that...I hope it works out for you...It just seems like too much work for the desired result....
Which B&M Model tranny cooler did you go with ? I can't put in side ducts but could fit it in the front of the car and let the air from the brake ducts do the cooling.

You could totally do that, I put My intercooler heat exchanger there! I changed out the supplied maggie one for a Derale with a fan and put it right under the Rt headlight assembly.
Many guys have done that one and written it up. I have pictures from my heat exchanger also.

Thanks. I have fixed headlights going into the car, so I have a lot of space underneath the headlights for setting this up.
So you completely bypassed the radiator and added a deeper pan?
Yeah I wanted to get that fluid out of my Radiator because with the stall converter it was really heating up my radiator. I would not mind running it through a good aftermarket Rad that will do a better job of cooling everything, before this my tranny went 260 degrees and my radiator followed with its own 260
Now my engine coolant stays around the thermostat temp of 178 and the tranny does not go over 220. I am at peace now!

I don't know if you have a high stall converter but they sure generate some heat when you are doing some spirited driving! My car had challenges with cooling the engine because the Maggie iuntercooler heat exchanger was blocking the path of the radiator and CAI. I have since moved that as well and put a fan on it's new heat exchanger as well.
I am glad you don't have issues with putting the cooler in front of your Radiator, lucky you. Some guys have to work a little harder to control that extra energy.

Yeah, I hear ya. I do have a higher stall converter as well, but I do not have an intercooler or SC so I see where you don't have too many options...
