P0410 OBD-II Trouble Code
Technical DescriptionSecondary Air Injection System Malfunction

What does that mean? The P0410 code refers to the emissions system. The AIR pump puts air to the exhaust to lower emissions. It takes in outside air and pumps it through two one-way check valves into each bank of the exhaust.

About 90% of the time that this code is set, the one-way check valves have worn out or failed and allow water (which occurs naturally in the exhaust) back into the pump. In any cold climate, especially in climates with higher humidity, this water may be more excessive. The water partially fills the AIR pump, it can then freeze. When the PCM commands the pump on, if the pump is frozen it cannot turn, thus overloading the circuit and "popping" the fuse.

Taken directly from a google search.
Ps. - Check valves often stick.

On my car P0410 ended up being the AIR pump. Replaced it with a used one and the code has not come back.

How much did the air pump run you?

suggest before replacing the pump, confirm the pump will not run and that it is getting power (some PCM's disable the AIR pump when a DTC is encountered). It normally runs for a couple of minutes at start-up.

The DTC 1410 implies both sides O2 sensors didn't react to the AIR pump being turned on, this could also be caused by just both stuck AIR check valves -- that black metal thing connecting the metal pipe from the exhaust manifold to the rubber hose.

On our DD 2000 TransAM (same LS1 engine as our 2000 Vette, except that the passenger side check valve is not under the firewall) we've had both check valves go bad (100k) whereas on our 94 (LT1 w 100k), I replaced both just in case, but they were actually still ok.

One last thought, since its easy to do, suggest removing and checking the driver side check-valve (7/8" and 1" or 1 1/8" wrench needed). This will be much easier than replacing the AIR pump. If you find the check valve to have failed, replace it, reseting the PCM (battery cable removal for a few minutes) and see if pump runs and you then get a different code (e.g. passenger side check valve).

I had this problem over the winter. A few members noted the WD 40 trick. Open the system along the driver side of the engine and give it a good spray into one of the hoses. Then let it run and burn off a bit. I guess it frees up a stuck check valve seat, and it does seem to work well. You can see one check valve on the side of the engine with all the heater type hoses, but the common trouble one is behind the engine (figures)! If you do a search you will see more comments and even diagrams. I am very thankful for that tip.

This is an air pump code. I've replaced my pump once and the code came back so now this might be a ground issue I hope.

Run a search for "410" "code" and my name.
I had this and it turned out to be my battery had leaked acid onto the vacuum line that runs to the air pump and triggers it to begin working.

I had already replaced the battery and cleaned up the acidic mess left behind when I started getting this code, so I didn't realize the two were related.
Dealership replaced the vacuum line running from under the battery tray over to the air pump (driver's side in the nose of the car) and all is good for several years.

It's about $225 from the dealer. I found one here for $60 shipped.
