Default Who is running TPIS Headers?

Tried in the Z06 section w/o success. I am about to buy a used set of TPIS headers, and Random Tech X pipe with Hi-Flow cats. What are the possible gains with this set up and if you have the system, do you like it? Is it just loud under higher acceleration and decent at idle? I had an LG system on my last 02Z and loved it. Should I expect the same?

I cannot compare since I never ran LGs, but, I do have the TPIS headers(coated), random tech cats, corsa x and Corsa Catback. The car runs great and the system looks very nice. I have a partition and the car is actually quite inside. I even thought it was too quite until I stood behind the car and let my wife rev it a little. I cannot make a good comparison as the car was never put on a dyno while stock. I did put my car on the Dyno at funfest, when it was 90 some degrees outside, a couple of years ago and it put down 376 rwhp(if I am remembering correctly.) The guys doing the dyno said that is very normal for a car with full exhaust, a tune and cai. Good luck.

Thank you crazyv6. Anyone else have some input? I read some older posts on C5 Vette forum and there were some problems with cracks around the mounting points and brackets being welded on backwards??

It doesnt seem like anyone is using these headers anymore according to my only getting one response in 2 different sections of this forum

I had mine put on 5,6 years ago? They're still on, work great no issues. They flow into Random HF Metal Cats, Bassani X pipe and STS TT's. They're fine, it's just that there are so many more options now and a lot are stainless steel instead of coated carbon steel.

ive had mine on my LS1 and now my LS3 (416) and they fit great, make decent power, and work fine.

headers are over rated, and I think TPIS are a good bang for a buck header. Got mine with X pipe for 600$...thats a 1/4th of the cost as LG's

LG streets are actually cheap, and with cats and X-pipe are only $1100

Aren't TPIS the ones you need to cut the tunnel plate on in order to set the rear O2's in place?

Had them on my 2000 FRC when I bought it, custom piped W/no cats. I believe they were one of the first good fitting good performing mid length headers available for the C5. No tunnel plate cutting on my car.
Plug boot on the drivers side, I think #6, was tight but no big deal.

They were getting pretty oxidixed especially at the collectors (not coated like yours) and eventually replaced them with LG Pros and RT cats/pipes. Dynoed about the same so the LGs may have made up some of the 4-5 hp lost with the addition of the cats.

I think you'll be pleased with them. Hope this helps.

as a previous poster wrote, the TPIS headers fit well, they hold up well (coated) and they are inexpensive. If you are not after the very last bit of HP than can be had with higher priced headers, then the TPIS works well for what they were intended to do.

We've got TPIS on the C5 w/random cats, x-pipe & GHL Bullets. Motor is LS2 block 403 w/AFR 225, FAST-92, custom Comp Cam, etc. Makes pretty decent power. I don't think header brand makes a lot of difference - tuning & right mix of all components does. Didn't cut anything.

Make sure to buy some exhaust band clamps (2 3/4"). They will keep it nice and tight.
