Finally cleaned the Halltech filter...what a difference in power!!!
The halltech has been on the car for over 6K miles. I took off the filter over the weekend for cleaning, and boy did it need it. The entire filter media was covered in a thick stinky paste, consisting of dirt, sand, bug carcasses, and a few chunks of unknown origin.
I used the K&N cleaning kit, and after it dried, I sprayed it with the oil. Filter looks brand new, except now its orange instead of blue thanks to the oil. Let her sit for a day, and took her for a spin.
 Huge difference in power!!! I took traction control off and punched her from 30 mph in 1st. Wheel hop and spin all over the place. Usually, the tires just chirp, but this time, I nearly lost control. :D

   This is the real reason not to drive it in the rain I suppose :D
MoJo picked up (I kid you not) a cheese sandwich on the way to BG last year. How's that for an anti-mod?

Only 6000 miles
At the time I could not make up my mind going with the Halltech filter or the Donaldson. Went with the Donaldson because I felt that the Halltech sat way low and would act like a vacuum cleaner sucking up moisture, dust and other road debris. Glad I did.
Cleaned my Donaldson at 30000 miles and it wasn't even real dirty.
I used the cleaning and oiling set for the Donaldson. SLP carries them.
The filter media of the Halltech is the same as the Donaldson so you could use the Donaldson kit if you want to keep the original color.

I dread having to take that filter off though. It was a pain without a lift.
Really? I have no problem reaching mine from the front of the car w/o jacking, ramps, etc. Toughest thing is the AIR hose but no problem now that I've had some practice. How low IS your car?

I clean mine about every 5-10K miles. Its a pain to remove mine as well. I end up having to remove the entire Tric assembly just to replace the filter.

Halltech Filter Removal/Replacement hint.
The next time you have to clean the filter, take off the center section of the air dam. It's only 4 bolts.
With that removed it's easy to remove and replace the filter.

I drove mine up on rhino ramps...made the job a breeze.
The inside of the tric and the mag where spotless. The filter is doing an awesome job. Since I bought another car as a daily driver, the Vette will be garaged and only driven on sunny days. Hopefully, the filter will never get that dirty again.
