You have to take it out completely! Bose is not compatable with aftermarket equipment. Bose is a world of their own. You can make a Vette sound incredible but it definitely a project. Good luck!

There is an after market adapter harness you can use on an aftermarket head unit & still use your bose speakers. But IMO the bose speakers are not worth the $$ you will spend to re-use them.
Go to crutchfield.com and input your car,year,model and they will show you what fits. You can spend from $300 to $3000 on a new system and again IMO you don't have to spend any where near the high end for good stereo sound. G/L
