Default Upgrade from 2:73 to ???

I am going to upgrade my rear end gears but I don't know what to put in. Should I go with 3:42 or should I not stop there and go to 3:73 or 3:90? Thanks in advance for your comments...

Default The Package !!!

With so many different choices out there you first must decide what you want out of your car and upgrades. Also looking at the rear end area...LOOK to do a complete upgrade and eliminate the week links of the stock rear end. If an A4 you should get a good stall converter also.$$$ and the list just keeps going on

I've got 3:73's (Built diff by Rodney@RPM) and a Yank 3600 stall. Night and day difference from the 2:73's . The car is so much more fun to drive, and I can break the tires loose at 50mph. I have a pretty good size cam (G5X3), so my combo was based around that. I recomend a sticky tire with this combo. A lot of people will tell you to go with 3:42's which are a great option as well, but I wanted to make sure I felt where my $$$ went...no regrets here at all

The 3:90 gear might be a bit much, depending if you ever plan to go with F/I down the road.

Haha, haven't tried 3.73 but I like my 3.42 gears. I am currently having a vigilante 2800 converter installed. I could have saved some $$ by having the converter installed when i had the gears installed. Something to thing about before you have the work done.

3.73s here with a Yank SS3200...fantastic combo. It's a beautiful driving combination. As mentioned above, save some installation money and get the stall put in at the same time. Also, with either rear you will have to have the shift points reset with a tune. You will absolutely love it and never look back.

Well IF you have an A4 then 3.90s would be crazy awesome but I would stop at 3.73s for M6. Whatever you do make sure you have FUN, don't be overly conservative. 3.42s are for guys that have bad backs or are over 60 years old. Let er rip!

If it as an A4 you should definetley go with the 3:73 gears.
Still very driveable on the streets and you will feel a difference, you will for sure be disappointed if you go with 3:42 s.
Would recommend a converter as well as the others have said previously!

Good Luck
