I just scored a set of slightly used Z06 mufflers on eBay. I'm not planning on a serious polish job, but can anyone recommend a good way to clean and lightly polish the titanium mufflers and pipes prior to the installation? I've read a few locked threads about installing these -- it sounds like I'm going to have to find a shop with a lift rather than risk jacking it to the necessary height. Other than dropping the rear sway bar, is there anything else I need to know? Are there gaskets at the pipe flanges I need to get from the dealer, or possibly new rubber mounts or hangers at the rear? Thanks for your input
I paid about $75 to have a muffler shop install them and I helped. If you have an auto transmission, there is a heat shield on the right which should be removed. If there were gaskets, it was no problem to reuse them.

polishing is a waste of time.....unless you never start the car

Agreed - I realize that titanium discolors with heat... maybe "polish" is the wrong word. I'm thinking more about just getting them clean and presentable while they are off the car, since I know I'll never be able to spruce them up once they are on the car.

I cleaned my Ti's up w/my BBQ grill brush, the mufflers turned out nice and clean w/a little shine. (then I replaced the brush before my wife got home) installing is a do it yourself. the back of the car has to be about 2 1/2 feet off the ground. if you don't know anyone w/a lift or have good jack stands (like 5 ton jack stands, 2 or 3 ton will not get the *** end up as high). if you will not be able to get the car high enough off the ground you may need to take it to a garage.
